The Goofy Froot Company

Original IP, Brand, & Product Line | Role: Copywriter, Business Owner, & Froot Salesman

Goofy Froot is my main comics project that I’ve been creating with my best friendo and collaborator Max Travers since 2015. It’s a comic that features giant fruit characters! In addition to writing the comics, I also oversee all the sales, marketing, and brand related copy.

Welcome To The Frootiverse.

We created the "Frootiverse" in 2015, we wanted to create new characters and new stories that have never been seen before.

We also wanted to highlight energies or "vibez" that haven't been given their due respects in the cartoon pantheon. When a fan sees something of themselves in a particular character that's what it's all about.

All our characters have catchy names like the Gangsta Grapes, Boss Banana, Chil Pepper, & Poised Pineapple.
Below is our first run of gifs we produced for Giphy.com which appear on every social platform from LinkedIn to Tinder.

Prime Directive: Make Froot Comics Or Else.

We self-published our first ensemble volume of stories in 2017, "Ripe Off The Page" after a successful Kickstarter. We're currently in production on a spin-off story "Bromeliad's Keeper" that features the Poised Pineapple ninja warrior. BK will be published first as a webtoon and then collected into a printed volume.

One feature that I love about producing our work is that it has an appeal to people who don't read comics (yet) and my hope is that as we expand our footprint we'll be able to bring more people into the medium itself.

Social Content:
For Every Froot, There Is A Flavor.

Goofy Froot is about being yourself, no matter if you’re a business bro, fly girl, or nap master general like Oafish Orange.

We created the Flavor Chart to act as a “character menu” that gets our all Froot in one place for fans to see who their favorite character might be.

Click each character for a closer look and visit the Characters page on the main Goofy Froot site for their full biographies.

Email Marketing: The “Inbox Experience.”

Social media and email plays a big role in our ability to market and develop the Goofy Froot brand. I like to think of our emails as branded “mini-content” and it’s where we give our most dedicated supporters a little bit of extra flavor.

Often it’ll feature original character dialogues as if all the characters hang out in a group chat together or some new illustration work from Max.

Just two grapes and a pepper chatting about cool hoodies. Nothing to see here!

Product Copy: Fresh Produce That’s Ripe Year Round.

On our web store we sell a few goodies, including our comic book, stickers, enamel pins, t-shirts and more.

Each character has their own individual brand and fanbase so it can be challenging to serve each tribe but we do our best to match characters and products together with what their audience wants most. See our full catalog here.

Every Little Thing I Do, Gotta Be Frooty From Now On…

We've been able to expand the Goofy Froot brand into other mediums such as street art, canvass works, and apparel and have been featuring our works in the local NYC art scene as well as shows and cons around the country.

This is something I truly believe and when Boss Banana says it he makes you want to believe it too.

It was an absolute blast seeing this two dudes up on a wall. I love walking by them every time I hop on the train.
